As of this morning, the Organic Centre website shows the following message…
“…It is with regret that we have decided to close the garden for the winter. We are currently in discussion with several parties with respect to runniing (sic) the gardens next year, and the plan is to open again in the Spring.
More information will be posted here as soon as a decision has been made…”
We will of course try to find-out more information and post it here, on yaldingorganicgardens.info.
After many months of seemingly very little happening; we have received the following e-mail…
“…hi I have heard rumours that Yalding is closing. Is this true and what a shame if it is…”
Bearing-in-mind this is presently only a rumour; we have e-mailed our contact at the Congelow Trust, asking for clarification – and await a response.
Quite honestly; closure would come as no surprise. The last time we visited – which was many months ago – it was totally depressing. No life in the place whatsoever; and still virtually nothing to attract-in new visitors, or to encourage repeat visits.
As we believe we originally predicted; the garden had become a shadow of its former self – seemingly little more than an adjunct to the shop – with very little indeed promoting ‘organic’. The Organic Centre website showed virtually nothing happening throughout the year – and it is hard to see how it could continue in such a way.
The Organic Centre website has shown reduced opening (Thursday to Sunday) over the winter period – beyond that; we know nothing. We certainly don’t get any feedback from the gardens directly!
It would indeed be dreadful if the gardens were to close again; and we would appreciate any further information that might be available.

Consequently, there may be some differences in formatting – but we believe the content to be complete (although some original publication dates may have been estimated).
This earlier content is being added, in order to put current developments in context; and to provide a fuller record of events.
