The  Gardens are open Monday to Saturday, 9AM to 5PM and on Sundays, from 10AM to 4PM Entrance to the Shop and Café is free and admission to the Gardens is:

  • Adults £6.00
  • Children (Under 14) £3.00
  • Families (up to 2 Adults and 5 Children) £14.00
  • Concessions £5.00

Season Tickets are available

The Gardens advise… “Our intention is that the gardens remain open to the public for as much of the year as possible. However, if conditions become very wet or frosty we may have to close the gardens in order to preserve the integrity of the ground and lawn under foot. Please contact us prior to visiting between the months of November and March.”

Things appear to be gearing-up for the re-opening at midday this Saturday – 12 June. Indeed, the new ‘Hedgeblog‘ proudly tells us that a new Fracino coffee machine has now been installed – so at least a decent cup of coffee should be guaranteed:-)

New Gardens’ operator Paul Smith was interviewed on BBC Kent’s ‘Sunday Gardening’ programme on the 30th May.

The programme is available on BBC iPlayer ‘Listen Again’ here - and the interview starts at 1 hour, 18 minutes in.

Elsewhere on this site, Vivienne expressed the thoughts of many, in welcoming the latest reopening news.

We completely agree; insofar as the re-opening itself is concerned – and it is very good to see some of the site improvements – especially to access – that are being made. Our concerns however, are still in the areas of ‘ethos’ and ‘emphasis’ – effectively; ‘what the Gardens are all about’.
